Also known as: The Ring Leader (metal rings version)
Aim: separate the 4 rings then put then back in place.
Comment: This puzzle is extremely complex. You should not “force” to get a ring through a rope (this would probably break your rope and, if it was the way to go, this puzzle would be meaningless!).
Difficulty: ++++++
Solved: yes
Solution: See the Quatro solution (WARNING, by looking the solution you’ll loose all the fun and pride that self-solving it always brings!)
This is fantastic. I like solving things myself but this one just seemed impossible. I have seen a couple of solutions but this is the clearest. A big thanks.

Thank you !
I must admit that this puzzle is clearly the one I spent the longest to solve! And as you saw in the solution, it becomes so quickly a complete mess that I had to use a knife to restart it from the begining a couple times…
If you have any good puzzle you don’t see in my list, please feel free to suggest them! I can never have too many of them!
Cheers

Hello Tharnjagger,
I myself have this 4 ring puzzle for almost 10 years and I’m still working to solve it. It is far most the most difficult puzzle made ever. But! There is a but!
It is easy to imagine a far more difficult one: the 5 ring, 6 ring , 7 ring versions, etc!!!
My question to you: are these version available, or is it limited to a maximum number of rings (if so, is there a mathematical proof of it?)? Or is there an official world record for making the largest number ever?
By the way: for a 5 ring version: google to “Loopamania”!
Best regards,

Good question.
following the steps to remove one ring, it could be easily thought that there is actually no upper limit in the number of rings… but I’m not 10% sure about that.
What I know is that it’s already so hard to move the rope on the 4 one without actually making nodes that I think the 5 must already be a real nightmare… so I can’t imagine 6 or 7
